Trinity Home Care

Companion Care in Greenville & Spartanburg, SC

Loneliness is a health risk for older adults, and it often shows up before any medical need does: skipped meals, a quiet house, a parent who stops driving and slowly stops going out. Companion care from Trinity Home Care brings a dependable, screened caregiver into the home for a few hours a day or a few days a week to keep life full, safe and connected.

Every companion care schedule is set up by a registered nurse after a free in-home visit. Call (864) 777-0035 to arrange one anywhere in Greenville or Spartanburg County.

What a companion caregiver does

  • Conversation, games, reading, hobbies and shared meals
  • Meal planning and cooking, including diabetic and heart-healthy diets
  • Light housekeeping, laundry and changing linens
  • Grocery shopping, pharmacy pickups and errands
  • Transportation to doctor visits, church, the senior center and family events
  • Medication reminders and hydration prompts
  • Gentle encouragement to stay active, and a watchful eye for changes the nurse should know about

Companion care versus personal care

Companion care is hands-off help: company, housekeeping, meals and errands. Personal care adds hands-on assistance with bathing, dressing, toileting and transfers. Many of our clients start with companion visits and add personal care as needs change; because the same nurse oversees both, the transition is seamless. Our nurses explain the difference in Companion care vs. personal care: which does your parent need?

Frequently asked questions

How many hours of companion care do most families start with?

Many families begin with two or three visits a week of three to four hours each, often around mealtimes or appointments, and adjust from there. Our nurse will recommend a schedule based on the first visit.

Can the caregiver drive my parent?

Yes. Our caregivers can provide transportation to appointments, church, shopping and social outings.

Will it be the same caregiver each time?

We match each client with a primary caregiver and keep that match whenever possible. Consistency is especially important for clients with early memory loss.

Is companion care covered by insurance?

Long-term care insurance policies often cover it, and veterans may qualify for VA Aid and Attendance. Medicare does not cover companion care.
